Scarlett Peckham

PURVEYOR OF HISTORICAL ROMANCE NOVELS

About Scarlett

Scarlett Peckham fell in love with romance novels as a child, sneaking paperbacks from the stash in her grandmother's closet. By the time she came of age she had exhausted her library's supply and begun to dream of writing one of her own.

Scarlett studied English at Columbia University and built a career in communications, but in her free hours always returned to her earliest obsession: those delicious, big-hearted books you devour in the dark and can never bear to put down. Her USA Today bestselling debut novel, The Duke I Tempted, was named a Best Romance Novel of 2018 by BookPage and The Washington Post and called “astonishingly good” by The New York Times Book Review. Her most recent book, The Mistress Experience, was named a best romance novel of 2024 by Entertainment Weekly.

Scarlett lives in Los Angeles, where she also writes contemporary romantic comedies under the name Katelyn Doyle. When not reading or writing romance she enjoys drinking immoderate quantities of white wine, watching The Real Housewives, and dressing her cat in bowtie.

Scarlett is represented by Sarah Younger at the Nancy Yost Literary Agency and spends far too much time on Instagram. You can drop her a line at scarlett [at] scarlettpeckham [dot] com

Praise for Scarlett’s Books

For The Duke I Tempted

"An astonishingly good debut...The whole book is a breath of fresh air, both a complex, layered story and a soaring romance with two very real people at its heart." -- The New York Times Book Review

"A novel about the lies people tell, the barriers we build to protect ourselves and the fears we must overcome to let ourselves be loved….A best romance novel of 2018." -- The Washington Post

"Peckham's meticulous character work pays off in spectacular, grandly romantic fashion and The Duke I Tempted ends with particularly cathartic and hard-won happily ever after…A best romance novel of 2018" -- BookPage

"Gothic romances are tempestuous by definition, but this one is dramatic even by those heightened standards...If you want something to speed your heart and stop your breath as you read beneath the covers, with only the meager flashlight beam warding off the enveloping night -- then you have a rare treat in store." -- The Seattle Review of Books

"A one-sitting, late-into-the-night read, The Duke I Tempted ran away with my heart." -- Book Ink Reviews

For the Earl I Ruined

"With her ability to tread the line between the most diverting of historical circumstances and a progressive level of sex positivity that makes me want to sing her praises from the rooftops, Peckham proves herself one of the most exciting romance authors on the rise." -- Entertainment Weekly

"A beautifully written, character-driven story that expertly unravels a big misunderstanding, and surprises with its twists and turns and wicked secrets right up until the end." --NPR

"Peckham's keen perception of emotions and elegant writing make the agonies of her characters more acute. ... This is a story that absorbs all of your interest while keeping you riveted to the page from beginning to end." -- USA Today Happily Ever After Blog

"Brimming with emotion, passion, and plenty of pining... By far one of my favourite reads of the year." -- Natasha Is a Book Junkie
